An "Old Fashioned County Fair" is what you will find with emphasis on traditional livestock, horticulture, arts, and crafts exhibits. This years Main Stage Headline attraction will be country & western artists Ricochet appearing on Saturday evening. Friday evening will be reserved for Beach Music featuring regional artists Bill Deal, Fat Ammons, and the Rhondels. Thursday is set for locals to show their talent abilities in the 2nd annual Talent Show. The Family Stage will offer a Karoake contest on Friday evening. Dance schools, country cloggers, clowns, and other types of entertainers will appear on Saturday & Sunday. Childrens activities will center around the Fall Frolic, petting zoo, and roving entertainers of all types. Other attractions feature a Mule Pull, Mini Tractor Pull, 4H Horse Show, Wild West Follies, Suewee Racing Pigs, and simular county fair events. The Food Court and other food vendors will offer just about any style of food that you can imagine from Cajun' cooking to traditional hamburgers and hot dogs. Come prepared to endulge in life's little pleasures. Competition areas provide residents an opportunity to display their creations in Arts & Crafts, Food & Grains, Ham Curing, and Flowers. The 4H Lamb show features lambs raised by 4H club members. Livestock, poultry, and rabbit shows are also a part of the fair. Local, regional, and national businesses will be demonstrating the latest and greatest goods and services. Non-profit groups will also be on hand to share their services. No fair can be complete without a midway. This year World Wide Shows will provide over 30 rides and attractions from kiddie rides to super thrill rides. The event focuses on "multi-sensory" activities, such as sponge painting, which allows blind children to feel the shape of the sponge and smell the paint. Ghost stories are translated by a sign language interpreter for the hearing impaired. Other activities include stenciling, puppet making, pumpkin decorating, mask making, miniature golf, face and hand painting, witch tosses, sand bucket treasures, spook tents, a marshmallow hang and haystack treasure hunting. The event, which draws hundreds of children in costume, gives the disabled population an opportunity to integrate with their non-disabled peers. Event features indoor and outdoor venues. This is a family affair, ending with fireworks. Historic Hilton Village was built between 1918 and 1920 to provide wartime housing for workers at Newport News Shipbuilding.
