September 10-19, aloha Festivals O'ahu (O'ahu)
The annual aloha Festivals is a statewide cultural celebration which kicks off on the island of O'ahu with opening ceremonies at historic 'Iolani Palace and the Downtown Ho'olaule'a street party in Honolulu. September 28-October 3, ala Moana Hotel Celebrates 29th annual Oktoberfest (O'ahu)
Largest and longest-running Bavarian festival, ala Moana Hotel? Oktoberfest, runs nightly September 28 -- October 3. authentic food, spirits and lively "oompah-pah" music of the Herbert Marks Edelweiss Band, highlight the popular event. Germany? Krombacher beer will make its Hawaii debut. This year? grand-prize giveaway is a round-trip for two to Frankfurt, Germany on american airlines. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday hours are 6 p.m. to midnight and on Sunday, 5 - 11 p.m. admission is $5. On Friday and Saturday, doors are open 6 p.m. - 1 a.m. and admission is $8. October 1-4, Eighth annual Hula Oni E Hula Festival (O'ahu)
Hilton Hawaiian Village, Tapa Ballroom. approximately 25 hula troupes will compete in this children's hula competition. Categories include group auana (modern dance), group kahiko (ancient dance), Master Hula Oni E (male solo dance) and Miss Hula Oni E (female solo dance). With the flick of a switch, more than 250,000 sparkling lights will illuminate the 25 foot holiday tree and dozens of pine and palm trees around the courtyards of The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
