November 13, Annual Crafts Festival and Cane Grindning
One of the largest on-day events in the area, this festive fall celebration is in its 22nd year and draws more than 4000 visitors. The festival is centered around Oatland's Heritage Homesite where area farmers grind sugar cane and make syrup as it was done 150 years ago. The sites and sounds of music and dancing fill the forest and flavor the air with traditional rhythms. Hay rides and children's activities are planned and Oatland's Native Animal Trail will be open. The traditional syrup cookoff was an important fall event on middle Georgia farms and featured family and community getting together for work and play.
